Creating and Managing Web surveys using LimeSurvey: Online - (1 day)
How to set up, conduct and export your data for a web based survey in the freely available Limesurvey web survey software system.
Instructor
Adam Zammit is the Director of Operations at ACSPRI. Adam is the lead developer and maintainer of a suite of free / open source tools for survey research (queXML, queXF, queXS and queXC) and is a contributor to the LimeSurvey project. Adam also manages many survey projects, including web, telephone and paper based studies. Current projects include data collection for the Australian Survey of Social Attitudes (AuSSA) – a national postal survey.
Limesurvey is a powerful web based survey tool, used in many fields for conducting high quality web based surveys.
This workshop will introduce the Limesurvey administrative interface, and dive straight in to setting up a questionnaire. We will cover the Expression Manager system of Limesurvey which allows for conditional logic along with text replacements and inline calculations. Once we have set up a working questionnaire, we will introduce methods for inviting and managing participants, including email invitations with unique tokens and open access surveys. You will learn how to manage and monitor an ongoing survey, and how to export your data for analysis to multiple statistical packages. Time permitting, we will cover exporting your questionnaire to a paper based scannable questionnaire.
If you already have a draft questionnaire, you could use this workshop as an opportunity to have it programmed in the Limesurvey system. If not, we will provide a demonstration questionnaire to work on during the workshop.

Q: Should I have a questionnaire prepared before attending this course?
A: This isn't necessary, but the workshop would be a great opportunity to work on your your own draft questionnaire.
I enjoyed this high-quality course that was delivered by a very experienced lecturer. I think that given the short nature (one day) of the course, the online delivery is likely to be more cost effective as compared to face-to-face offering.
Good intro to theory. The reference to the Callegaro et al. book was useful. The example was worthwhile, and Adam's responses to questions, e.g. about using images in questions, added to the experience.
