Introduction to DDI: Basic concepts and how to develop skills for training researchers (Anja Perry, Jane Fry, Olof Olsson)
Curious about how DDI can be used to describe research data or other types of data in your library or organization? Interested in offering an introductory DDI training to researchers or staff? DDI is an international metadata standard used to describe social, economic, and behavioral research. DDI includes metadata fields for describing many aspects of the research data lifecycle from the data collection through to sharing and archiving. GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences hosted a Train-the-Trainers Workshop at Schloss Dagstuhl – Leibniz Center for Informatics in Wadern, Germany in September 2018; it was sponsored by the DDI Alliance, a membership based organization that develops DDI. This workshop will apply the material developed at the Train-the-Trainer Workshop. It will introduce you to DDI’s basic concepts and specifications, provide an overview of the modular training materials that were produced by the DDI Trainers, and provide use cases and examples of training that can be implemented at your local library or organization.
